ROSEWOOD CENTER – Facts and Information

Perhaps you are not familiar with the Nursing Home Compare website administered by Nursing Home Compare is designed to allow the public to understand certain information about nursing homes so consumers can make wise choices when deciding where they may want to put a loved one who needs rehabilitation or long term care services. While the information contained on Nursing Home Compare is not perfect (see our previous post regarding some facilities intentionally misleading the public using the website), it is a great tool to allow you to see a snapshot of a facility’s staffing, health inspections, and quality measures. This information is available at

Rosewood Center is a 69 bed facility. Staffing was lower than both the National and the West Virginia averages for registered nurse hours per patient per day and licensed practical nurse hours per patient per day. Additionally, quality measures merited only two stars (below average) at Rosewood Center. These markers indicate that more short stay residents at Rosewood Center have severe pain and new or worsened pressure ulcers (also called bed sores, pressure sores, or decubitus ulcers) than residents of average facilities in West Virginia and around the United States. Likewise, more long term residents at Rosewood Center have urinary tract infections, moderate or severe pain, and pressure ulcers than residents of average facilities in West Virginia and around the United States. The most recent annual inspection conducted by the WV Office of Facility Licensure and Certification (OHFLAC) found various significant problems, such as failure to provide care for residents in a way that keeps or builds each resident’s dignity and respect for individuality and failure to have enough nurses to care for every resident in a way that maximizes the resident’s well-being.
